Bed Ash Injection

About this Project
The scope of this project was to implement a system that would allow the end user to inject bed ash from an existing silo into the plant’s boiler using a dilute phase pneumatic conveying system. The new system consisted of a rotary feeder, vent hopper, rotary airlock, blower, and conveying line from the silo to the boiler. As a cost savings measure, an existing blower was modified and repurposed to suit the application. Key challenges in this project include the following:
- Providing an equipment layout that would work within the limited space beneath the existing bed ash silo
- The conveying line was routed through a congested area of the existing boiler building
